On the 24st of may 2007 I started my company Semplice-K. In the previous summer I had made a bag and from the leftovers of the fabric I made my first necklace: Jeans Blue. Because of the enthusiastic reactions on this necklace the idea of Semplice-K was born. I’ have been creative my whole live. I love to draw, to paint, to make cloths and bags, to refurbish and upholster furniture, and of course to make necklaces. In al these works I love to use creative materials that I sometimes find on the streets, in nature, on markets etc. I have an eye for extraordinary and special fabrics, buttons, ribbon, beads etc. On my walks through nature I collect natural materials like shells which I can always use in my work later. The inspiration for making my bags, clothes and necklaces, I get from different angles. I get ideas by following the new trends in fashion and clothes, interiors, design and ornaments. My inspiration also comes from the fact that I’m a Dutch girl living and working in Switzerland. My Dutch roots in a Swiss-Italian culture make a colorful combination. Of course I also get a lot of inspiration from my two girls aged ten and thirteen. Lastly I get my inspiration from my work as a physiotherapist. This line of work gives me the energy to fully enjoy life. Karin van Hurne
